Parents
Alphabet speech and language therapy is here to help you with all aspects of intervention, including:
Free initial telephone consultation
This 15 minute consultation is an opportunity to discuss your concerns and find out if speech and language therapy assessment may be of benefit to your child.
Full assessment session
The assessment session will last approximately 60 minutes and will be an opportunity for the therapist to get to know you and your child. The therapist will take a full case history from you. The therapist will then complete a full language assessment on your child, using formal and informal assessment measures. The exact activities completed within the session will depend on the age and ability of your child.
Advice and recommendations
At the end of the assessment session, the therapist will be able to make immediate recommendations about the next steps for your child. This may include a course of therapy, although this is not always necessary. The therapist will also be able to give you some advice and tips that you can use at home in the meantime.
Detailed Report
The therapist will create a detailed report on your child based on the assessment session. The therapist will ask for your consent to share this report with other individuals involved with their care (e.g. GP, Occupational Therapist, NHS Speech and language therapist, etc.)
Individualised therapy programme
If therapy has been advised, your chid will receive individualised 1-1 therapy sessions. These sessions typically last between 30-45 minutes, although can be made longer or shorter on request.
Alphabet is able to offer therapy services within the comfort of your own home at a convenient time for you and your child (evenings and weekend sessions are available on request). We are also able to offer intervention in our therapy studio, at your child’s school, or any other suitable venue.
